Mandi, July 13: Mandi Police and SDRF rescued four people safely from a 4-mile dense forest in a joint operation. Due to the road being closed on Saturday night, three tourists from Punjab and a resident of Dharampur set out on foot through the footpath.
These people, who were following some locals, lost their way. The locals went ahead, and these four got stuck in the jungle. After spending about 6 hours in the jungle, a tourist called Sadar Thana Mandi asked for help. On receiving the information at 10 pm, a police team led by Inspector Deshraj reached the spot.
After a two-hour search operation, the voices of two tourists were heard.
They were sitting holding a tree out of fear. The police took them out of the deep ditch with the help of torches and sticks. The remaining two people were rescued by the police from the nearby area. Meanwhile, the SDRF team also reached the spot. Both teams together took the four safely to the main road and gave them water.
After a four-hour rescue operation, three tourists were taken to the Mandi Gurudwara. A resident of Dharampur was sent home in a private vehicle. The Tehsildar was also present on the spot.
