Shimla: The body of Army officer (JCO) Kuldeep Chand of Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, who was martyred during an encounter with terrorists in Keri Battal area of Sunderbani sector of Jammu, reached his native village on Sunday. His last rites will be performed with full military and state honors in his native village, Kohlvi.
Let us tell you that on Friday night, he had joined the operation along with other soldiers after getting information about the infiltration of terrorists. During this, he had an encounter with the terrorists, and during this, he was martyred while fighting the terrorists.
Terrorists’ infiltration attempt foiled
“GOC White Knight Corps and all ranks salute the supreme sacrifice of braveheart Kuldeep Chand of 9 Punjab. Kuldeep valiantly led an anti-infiltration operation along the LoC in Keri Battal area of Sunderbani on the night of 11 April,” the Army wrote on its social media account ‘X’ on Saturday.
The army said that the valour of his team and Kuldeep’s sacrifice foiled the terrorists’ infiltration attempt. We stand with the bereaved family in this hour of grief.
After this, the army informed his family about his martyrdom. As soon as the family got this news, a wave of mourning spread in the entire area and district. Local people and his relatives started gathering at the house of martyr Kuldeep Chand. Martyr Kuldeep has left behind his wife, a son and a daughter. The martyr’s younger brother works abroad, he has also been informed.
Joined the Army in 1996
Kuldeep joined the army in 1996. He was currently serving in 9 Punjab and these days his unit was in Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir. During this time, firing started between the army and the terrorists to stop the infiltrating terrorists. Kuldeep got injured after being shot, but he sacrificed his life after foiling the infiltration.
