A heavy landslide has occurred on the way to Mani Mahesh in Bharmour, a remote area of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. Thankfully, there was no loss of life and property. The scary video of the landslide is going viral on social media.
According to Bharmour Police, a landslide has occurred from the hill between Dunali and Goi on the way to Mani Mahesh. It is a matter of relief that the religious journey to Mani Mahesh has not started yet. Thousands of Shiva devotees reach Mani Mahesh during this journey.
It is being told that at the place where the latest landslide has happened, there was a heavy landslide in the flood last year as well. Due to this, the road to Mani Mahesh was completely closed. Later the Public Works Department (PWD) prepared a new road. Then the journey was conducted. Now about one and a half months before the start of the journey, a landslide has happened here again.
This time Manimahesh Yatra will commence from 26th August
North India’s sacred and holy Manimahesh Yatra will run from 26th August to 13th September. Shiva devotees reach here from all over the country for this. The journey to Manimahesh has to be completed through dangerous stops. The administration has currently banned the Manimahesh Yatra. Still some Shiva devotees are reaching Manimahesh.
Let us tell you that every year this journey runs from Krishna Janmashtami to Radha Ashtami. During this journey, the domestic and foreign devotees who reach Manimahesh take a royal bath in the holy Manimahesh Dal Lake.
The local administration has appealed to the Shiva devotees to come to Manimahesh only when the yatra officially starts. Right now the risk remains due to melting snow and landslides.
There is often a shortage of oxygen during the journey
The monsoon is still weak in Himachal. But the monsoon rains often create obstacles on the way to Manimahesh. Many times there are slides on the dangerous paths and many times pilgrims die by falling during the journey. Many times there is also a shortage of oxygen during this journey.
