Mandi, April 13: Mild earthquake tremors were felt in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday morning. According to the National Center for Seismology, the quake occurred at 9:18 AM and measured 3.4 on the Richter Scale.
The earthquake’s epicenter was located in the Kiagi area of Sundarnagar, and its depth was recorded at 5 Kilometers beneath the ground. Some residents who felt the tremors stepped out of their homes, but due to its low intensity, most people did not experience any noticeable effects.
It is worth noting that several districts of Himachal Pradesh, including Chamba, Shimla, Kullu, Lahaul Spiti, Kangra, Kinnaur, and Mandi, fall under Seismic Zone-5, which is classified as a highly earthquake-prone zone. As a result, tremors are frequently reported from these areas.
No damage or casualties have been reported so far.
