Shimla: The Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Climate Change has made it mandatory for all plastic companies to sell only that much plastic that can be processed. The ministry mandates that if a company sends 100 tons of plastic with the product, then it is the company’s responsibility to process back 100 tons of plastic. It has been mandated that, from hard plastic to the ordinary category, plastic be kept in different categories. In the hard plastic category, the bottles of shampoo and cream and other plastic waste are included. The responsibility of managing plastic waste has been fixed by the Central Ministry.
In this episode, the said rule will be strictly implemented in Himachal Pradesh, too, following the guidelines of the High Court.
For this, the Central Ministry has also prepared the Extended Producer Responsibility, i.e., the EPR portal, in which it will be mandatory for every company and related institutions and firms associated with it to get registered. In such a situation, all the activities will be carried out under the supervision of the portal, so that no one will be able to escape. For better plastic waste management in all the urban bodies of Himachal Pradesh, work will be done through the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) portal. In this, all the municipal bodies, including plastic waste processors (PWP), producers, importers, and brand owners (PIBO), must get registered. With this, the municipal bodies will also get credit points for the disposal of plastic waste.
