Shimla: Monsoon has ended in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday. Meteorological Center Shimla has officially announced this today. This time monsoon has left 8 days late from the normal date. In this monsoon season, the state has received 18 percent less rainfall than normal.
According to the Meteorological Department, in the year 1922, a record 1314.1 mm rainfall was recorded. In comparison, this time there has been 54 percent less rainfall.
The state received 734 mm of normal rainfall during the monsoon season between June 1 and September 30, but this time 600.9 mm of rainfall has occurred. In June, there was 54 percent less rainfall than normal, 29% less in July and 5% less in August.
On the other hand, there was 4 percent more rainfall than normal in September. This time, except Shimla and Una, there is not a single district in the state where there has been more rainfall than normal. Shimla has received 14 percent more rainfall and Bisalpur has received 2 percent more rainfall. All other districts have received less rainfall than normal.
According to the Meteorological Department, the sun will shine in the state for the next 5 days which will increase the temperature. Especially the mercury will rise during the day, but the temperature of cities situated on higher altitudes and river banks has started falling.
The normal date for the departure of monsoon from the state is 25 September. Last year also the monsoon departed on October 6. In the year 2019, it departed late on October 11. This year it has departed 8 days late.
