The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a chargesheet against Congress MP Sonia Gandhi and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in a money laundering case related to the National Herald newspaper. Special Judge Vishal Gogne took cognizance of the chargesheet filed on April 9 and fixed April 25 as the date for hearing the case.
Congress is attacking BJP on the issue. In this episode, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has attacked BJP. Chief Minister Sukhu wrote on social media that “ED is no longer an Enforcement Directorate but has become an Intimidation Department. The central government does not have answers to questions on public issues, so those who ask questions are being targeted. The action being taken against our leader, CPP Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi is a clear proof that the BJP government is badly scared of the voice of the opposition and the truth. An unsuccessful attempt is being made to defame the family that has sacrificed everything from the country’s independence to strengthening the foundation of democracy with false allegations. We will stand firm against every trick and will win this battle as well. This country will run by the constitution linked to the faith of 140 crore people, not by the orders of dictatorship.”
Congress protested outside the ED office in Shimla on Wednesday. There is anger among Congress leaders after the Enforcement Directorate filed a chargesheet in the money laundering case related to the National Herald newspaper and Associated Journals Limited.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, Congress state president Pratibha Singh, all ministers, Congress leaders and all the party councillors of Shimla Municipal Corporation were present in the Congress protest. The Chief Minister has said that the BJP is getting ED raids done on those who oppose it.
