Rampur: The weather has changed once again in Himachal Pradesh. Snowfall has started again on the high peaks of Shimla district. It is raining in the lower areas. Due to heavy snowfall in Narkanda, traffic on National Highway-5 has completely stopped. The snow on the road has made it slippery. Due to this, vehicles are unable to move forward. 3 buses of Rekong Peo depot are stuck in Narkanda.
The Transport Department has changed the route of buses going to Shimla keeping in mind the convenience of passengers. Now buses are reaching Shimla via Sunni and Basantpur. The Rampur-Rohru road has also been closed near Sungri. Bus services are also being affected in remote areas.
Instructions not to park buses in snow bound areas
Rampur Transport Depot Management has issued special instructions to the bus drivers. Drivers have been instructed not to park buses in snow bound areas. Buses going on high altitude routes have been instructed to return only at night.
Snowfall is proving beneficial for farmers and gardening. However, normal life is getting affected. If the weather worsens further, the problems of people in rural areas may increase.
The PWD department has started work to open National Highway-5. Workers are putting sand on the road to reduce slipperiness. According to the Meteorological Department, the closed roads will be restored as soon as the weather clears.
