The electricity bills of some consumers of Jhajhwan village under the electricity subdivision Rehan, falling under Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited Division Fatehpur under District Kangra, have come so high for December that people have come down to protest against the department.
Some consumers have been shocked by the electricity bills suddenly coming in thousands of rupees. Leela Devi (70), wife of late Diwan Chand, said that she lights only two bulbs in the house. The bill has not come for five months. In December, a bill of 1205 units of Rs 7043 was handed over.
Joginder Singh Pathania and Puneet Singh said that their bill has been coming between eight hundred to one thousand rupees, which has been paid on time. In October and November, the bill came zero, while in December they were shocked to see a bill of Rs 17,964. Complaints were also made to the SDM, departmental SDO and on number 1100.
Tara Chand (78) said that even in summer, the maximum bill for his house has been a thousand rupees. In October and November, the bill was more than 700, while in December he was upset when he received a bill of 15 thousand rupees. At the same time, his son Anil Kumar said that the meter of the cowshed is in his name. One bulb is lit there but he was given a bill of Rs 3208.
In the investigation, the boys were found to be at fault in billing. The bills given in December have come higher due to the addition of the previous unit.
