The students of the State Institute of Hotel Management are being provided a joint certificate from Jawaharlal University.

Dharamshala: The new building of the State Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) in Khaniyara, Dharamshala, has been constructed with a budget of more than 12 crores. Classes will now be held in the new building after this academic session, in which the infrastructure for practical work has been prepared along the lines of five-star hotels along with theory. Now the students of SIHM will also get hostel facilities soon.

The students of the State Institute of Hotel Management are being provided a joint certificate from Jawaharlal University (JNU) and the National Council for Hotel Management (NCHMCT). A target has also been set to increase the GDP by 7% to 15% in the tourism industry in Himachal. Under this, the hospitality sector is now being taken forward with more focus. A budget of 10.5 crores has been provided by the Center for the State Institute, while now the budget for other finishing works is being provided by the state government.

The institute was started in 2012, and various courses are currently being conducted. The admissions process has also started at the State Hotel Management Institute, which will continue until August 31. Students can be admitted to various courses. For the session 2024–25, the institute will provide the facility to do a BSc HHA in a three-year course, a one-and-a-half-year Diploma in Food Production, F&B Service, Front Office, Housekeeping, and Bakery and Confectionery. The big thing in this is that the infrastructure of all types of products, restaurants, and hotel rooms is being made available free of charge to the students for doing practicals.

On the other hand, District Tourism Officer (DTO) and Principal of SIHM Vinay Dhiman said that the institute’s new building has been prepared.

Classes will start in the new building during this academic session. Along with this, hostel facilities will also be available to the students soon.
