Himachal Pradesh’s tribal district Kinnaur has once again been cut off from the capital Shimla. A landslide occurred again at around 4 am in Kinnaur’s Nigulsari. The continuous stonefall on the highway once again led to the closure of traffic movement.

This has led to long queues of vehicles on the side of the highway. People have been troubled since morning. The machinery of the Public Works Department is engaged in removing the debris but stones and debris are falling from the mountain intermittently due to which the debris removal work is taking time.

Due to the blockage of NH-5, people coming and going to district Kinnaur, Kaza-Spiti, and district Shimla, Rampur, Juri had to face problems. Some tourists are also included in this, because a large number of tourists reach Kinnaur and Spiti via this highway.

Let us tell you that during the last 75 days in Nigulsari of Kinnaur, the highway has been open for barely 20 days. The remaining 55 days the highway remained closed due to landslides.

Apple orchardists are facing the most trouble with the closure of the highway. These days the apple season is at its peak in Kinnaur. But trucks loaded with apples are stuck on the roadside after the landslide.
