Shimla, July 3: The drinking water supply has been affected due to continuous rain in Shimla. The water supply of the city has come to a halt due to siltation in drinking water projects. Water has not been reaching many areas for the last 5 days. Councillor of Rulda Bhatta ward Saroj Thakur said that not a single drop of water has come to her ward for four days.
Water supply is not being done in many areas even through tankers. He said that the department employees are not even picking up the calls of the councilors. When the JE is asked when the water will come, he is not able to give any answer. The councilor said that the Municipal Corporation claims to provide water 24 hours a day. But at present they are not able to provide water even on alternate days.
The company is busy cleaning the silt
while apart from this, there is a huge shortage of water in many other areas of the city, people are facing water problems in many areas including Khalini, Vikasnagar and Panthaghati. Let us tell you that the company supplies water to the city of Shimla.
According to the drinking water company, the projects were filled with silt due to heavy rains. The company was continuously engaged in clearing the silt. Today, after clearing the silt, 38 MLD water has reached the city. The company claims that from now on, the supply will be smooth. The company has appealed to the people to use water as per their need. Also, for safety, it has been advised to boil the water for 10 minutes before drinking.
