Shimla, June 20: An online registration portal has been started for the famous Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra in Himachal. Devotees of Lord Bhole will be able to register themselves from today for this religious journey, which will run from 10 to 23 July. No one will be allowed to go on the journey without registration.

It will be mandatory to pass the fitness test to go to Shrikhand, because this journey is considered to be one of the most dangerous trekking religious journeys in the world. In this, devotees have to walk on a narrow path for 32 kilometers. During this, they have to cross 4 ice glaciers and rocky mountains.

Since the peak of Shrikhand is situated at a height of 18,570 ft above sea level, there is a shortage of oxygen.

Belief of devotees regarding Shrikhand

It is believed that Lord Shiva resides on the peak of Shrikhand. There is a 72 feet high Shivling in the form of a rock here. After reaching here, the devotees do parikrama and worship it.

The first batch will leave on July 10

The first batch of devotees will leave for Shrikhand on 10th July. This time 800-800 devotees will be sent on the pilgrimage in a day. No more devotees will be sent to Shrikhand in a day. Till last year, 3000 to 3500 devotees used to go on the pilgrimage in a single day. This used to increase the crowd a lot.

Lack of oxygen ahead of Parvati Bagh

The higher the altitude the pilgrims of Shrikhand go, the less oxygen they start getting. Due to this many devotees have to return without darshan. This problem is more in some areas ahead of Parvati Bagh.
