Shimla: The BJP Legislature Party will meet the Governor at Raj Bhawan today to get the case of the death of Chief Engineer Vimal Negi in Himachal investigated by the CBI. It will be led by Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur and BJP President Rajiv Bindal. They will request the Governor to hand over the investigation of Vimal Negi’s death case to the central agency.
According to information, the opposition has already staged a walkout in the assembly yesterday over this issue. BJP leaders say that Vimal Negi’s family has accused Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation (HPPCL) MD Harikesh Meena, Director (Personnel) Shivam Pratap and Director Desraj of harassment. But the government has suspended only one officer.
BJP MLA Randhir Sharma said, the government has handed over the investigation of Vimal Negi death case to an IAS officer. He said how can an IAS officer do a fair investigation of another IAS. Therefore, this case should be handed over to the CBI for a fair investigation.
The functioning of power corporation officials is under suspicion: Jairam
Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur said, the functioning of the Power Corporation has been under suspicion from the very beginning. Director Desraj, against whom an FIR has been lodged, has been made the director by superseding 5 officers. Why this was done also raises doubts.
He said that the family of the deceased is saying that three officers have mentally harassed Vimal Negi. In such a situation, why action was taken against only one officer. He said that for a fair investigation of this matter, this case should be handed over to the CBI.
BJP has a habit of creating fuss: CM
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sukhu has said that the family of the deceased is satisfied with the investigation. BJP is unnecessarily blowing this issue out of proportion. He said, it has become a habit of the opposition to create a mountain out of a molehill.
