The BJP has fielded Ravi Thakur from Lahaul-Spiti, Rajinder Rana from Sujanpur, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal from Barsar, Chaitanya Sharma from Gagret and Devinder Kumar Bhutto from Kutlehar.

"It is a very unfortunate and objectionable comment and I condemn it with strong words," he said.

Pratibha Singh's son and state minister Vikramaditya Singh is confident that the Congress can hold on to the seat.

Rakesh Kalia, a former MLA from Gagret and Chintpurni, resigned from his post after Chaitanya Sharma joined the BJP. Kalia has sent his resignation to Rajeev Bindal, the BJP state.
