Dehra, May 29: A young man has been arrested in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh on suspicion of spying for Pakistan. The young man is accused of sending sensitive information of India to agents sitting in Pakistan.
Kangra SP Mayank Chaudhary has said that the youth was arrested on Wednesday morning. Many sensitive documents and photos have been recovered from his mobile. This data has been sent to the forensic lab for investigation. Today the accused will be produced in the court and remand will be sought.
The accused has been identified as Abhishek Bhardwaj (20), a resident of Sukhahar village in Dehra of Kangra district. According to the police, Abhishek is a college dropout. He got involved in anti-national activities through online mediums.
According to the Kangra SP, after Operation Sindoor, the police is keeping an eye on all online and offline activities. The police had received secret information that a youth from Dehra is involved in anti-national activities. He is sending information related to India’s security to Pakistan .
Based on this information, the youth was put under surveillance. When his social media and online activity was searched, the youth’s activities seemed suspicious. After this, he was arrested from his house early Wednesday morning.
Police taking help of intelligence agencies
According to SP, a case has been registered against the accused under section 152 BNS of the Indian Penal Code. Initial investigation by the police revealed that the accused youth has dropped out of college. He was involved in suspicious activities through online mediums.
The interrogation of the accused is going on. However, it is not yet known what information about the country he has sent to whom. To find out this, the police will seek his remand. Considering the seriousness of the case, the police is taking the help of state and central intelligence agencies.

Dehra’s DSP Raj Kumar has also said that the accused has admitted to being involved in suspicious activities. He says that he has shared the information through social media. Today he will be produced in court and taken on remand. More information will be available after that.
