Kullu: The pilgrimage to Shrikhand Mahadev, one of the most difficult and inaccessible religious pilgrimages in the country, officially began on Sunday. The pilgrimage, which will run from July 14 to July 27, was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner and Yatra Trust President Torul S. Ravish by offering prayers at 5 a.m. on Sunday. He flagged off the first batch of 70 pilgrims.
During this, Vice President of Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra Trust and SDM Nirmand Manmohan Singh honoured Deputy Commissioner Kullu by presenting him with a picture of Shrikhand Mahadev. It is noteworthy that to inaugurate this pilgrimage, Deputy Commissioner Kullu Torul S Ravish reached Base Camp Singhgad on Saturday late evening after covering a distance of three kilometres on foot from Jaon. During this, she also participated in the evening Shiv Aarti with Shiva devotees by reaching the pandal of Shrikhand Seva Samiti Arsu, Rampur, Hamirpur at Base Camp Singhgad.
During this time, Senior Vice President of the State Congress Committee and member of Yatra Trust Buddhi Singh Thakur, District Council President Kullu Pankaj Parmar, SDM Nirmand Manmohan Singh, Tehsildar Nirmand Jaigopal Sharma, DSP Chandra Shekhar Kayth, Trust Member Govind Sharma, District Council Member Purna Thakur, Head of local Panchayat Sushma Katoch, Deputy Head Om Prakash Thakur, Deputy Head of Juagi Ranjit Thakur, etc. were also present with him. During this time, DC Kullu formally inaugurated the langar organized in the yatra by serving it to the Shiv devotees with his own hands.
By Sunday afternoon, about 2000 Shiv devotees had left for Shrikhand Kailash Mahadev Mountain. Police, Rescue, SDRF, Medical, and Revenue teams have been deployed in all five sectors of the Yatra for the safety and convenience of the pilgrims during the Yatra. He has also appealed to the Shiv devotees to not consume intoxicants and narcotics during the Yatra and to take special care of cleanliness during the Yatra.
