Baijnath, May 22: PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the redeveloped Baijnath Paprola railway station under the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh today. PM Modi will join virtually from Delhi and dedicate the railway station equipped with modern facilities to the public.
Situated on the Pathankot-Jogindernagar narrow gauge railway line, this station comes under the Jammu division of Northern Railway. Many new arrangements have been made at the station for the convenience of passengers. These include air-conditioned waiting room, retiring room and baby food room. 20 steel benches have been installed on the platform.
Special facilities for differently-abled people
The new platform shelter has been built in 1544 square meters. 2 water booths and 1 water cooler have been arranged at the station. Special facilities have been provided for the disabled. These include separate toilets, entry ramps, separate booking windows and parking areas. Train signal boards and coach guidance systems have also been installed at the station.

The design of the newly built station is inspired by the local culture and architecture. This station is located in the valleys of Kangra district. It is an important stop for passengers visiting Baijnath Temple, Jwalamukhi Temple, Chintapurni Temple, Kangra Fort and Masror Temple. Therefore, the local people as well as the devotees coming to these temples of Kangra and Una from all over the country will be able to get modern facilities at the railway station.
Redevelopment under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana, 1309 railway stations of the country have been redeveloped. Under this scheme, redevelopment work is also going on at Amb Andaura, Palampur and Shimla railway stations in Himachal. Facilities like roof plaza, children’s play area, food court and better lighting are being provided at these stations.
This will boost tourism- MP
Kangra Lok Sabha MP Dr Rajiv Bhardwaj said that the renovation of Baijnath Paprola station is a matter of pride not only for Kangra district but for the entire Himachal and it will also give a new direction to regional tourism.
