Police arrest truck driver loaded with beer, 2760 bottles recovers

Kullu: Police recovered a stock of illegal beer from a truck coming from Punjab to Kullu on the four-lane road near Bajaura in Kullu. Police have seized the truck along with the illegal beer, and the truck driver has been arrested by the police. According to the information, the Bhuntar police team was on blockade.

When the police signalled to stop the truck, the driver increased the speed and tried to escape, but the police surrounded and stopped the truck. On searching the truck, beer was recovered from it. When the police asked for papers from the truck driver, he did not have any. Police seized the truck along with the illegal beer.

SP Kullu Dr. Karthikeyan Gokulchandran confirmed the case and said that the team of Police Station Bhuntar recovered 1800 bottles of beer brand Thunder Bolt and 960 bottles of beer brand Tuborg, i.e., a total of 2760 bottles of beer from a truck number PB 03BS 1683, during a blockade at Bajaura Fourlane. SP said that in this regard, a case has been registered against the driver, Balwinder Singh, a resident of Shaluwal Tehsil Nabha District, Patiala, Punjab, under the Excise Act at Police Station Bhuntar, and further investigation is going on in the case.
