Shimla: The six congress rebels MLAs who cross-voted during Rajya Sabha elections have joined Bhartiya Janta Party. Apart from six congress rebels, 3 independent MLAs who tendered their resignation yesterday also joined BJP.
Six Congress rebels who joined BJP
Six rebel MLAs of Himachal Pradesh who joined BJP are Sudhir Sharma, Ravi Thakur, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Devendra Bhutto, Rajendra Rana, and Chaitanya Sharma.
They joined BJP in the presence of Himachal Pradesh BJP President Rajiv Bindal and Union Minister Anurag Thakur.
After cross-voting in Rajya Sabha elections, Speaker of Assembly disqualified six MLAs for defying a whip to be present in the House and vote in favour of the ruling Congress during cut motions and budget.
After joining BJP, rebel Himachal MLA Davinder Kumar Bhutto said that they had left Congress and joined the BJP so that we could aid in the development of our state under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi.
“We have left Congress and joined the BJP so that we could aid in the development of our state under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi. We do not want any post, we have joined as party workers… Congress ignores its party workers and elected members. The Himachal government will definitely collapse soon,” he added.
Three independent MLAs who joined BJP
Independent MLAs namely Ashish Sharma from Hamirpur Sadar, KL Thakur from Nalagarh, and Hoshiar Singh from Dehra joined BJP. They tendered their resignation yesterday and today joined BJP. These three independent MLAs sought ticket from BJP during 2022 assembly elections but they were denied following which they fought independently and won.
