Kullu: A private bus fell into the Beas River in Himachal Pradesh’s famous tourist destination, Manali, on Friday morning. 8 passengers were injured in this. 6 of the injured are being treated at the Community Health Center Manali and 2 at a private hospital. The condition of all is said to be out of danger.
According to the information, the bus of New Prem Bus Service Transport left Manali for Pathankot at 7:55 am. There were 12 passengers, including the driver and conductor, in it.
At around 8 am, near Banupul, some distance from Manali, the bus went out of control and fell 20 feet below the National Highway into the Beas River. After this, there was a lot of screaming on the spot.
Local people reached the spot after seeing the accident and informed the police. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot. With the help of local people and police, the injured were taken to the hospital by 108 ambulances, where everyone was undergoing treatment.
A car has also come under the bus and has been damaged. At the place where the bus overturned from the road, there are brake marks on the roadside.
A technical fault is the cause of the accident.
Kullu SP Karthikeyan Gokulchandran said that 5 men and 3 women had been injured in the accident. One man has been referred to the Regional Hospital Kullu.
He said that the initial investigation by the police had revealed that the cause of the accident was a technical fault in the bus. The police are investigating it; further action will be taken based on whatever other aspects come to light. The bus has also suffered a lot of damage in this accident.
