Shimla, June 17: A private bus met with an accident in heavy rain in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh today (Tuesday) morning. One person died and 17 passengers were injured in this accident. The deceased has been identified as Rajgir Chand (56) son of Brahma Lal, resident of village Kot Hatwad Ghuwarvi Bilaspur. The injured are being treated at Nerchowk Medical College, Mandi.
This accident happened on the Kalkhar-Patrighat road. There were more than 20 passengers in the bus.
According to the information, the bus was coming from Kuthehra towards Mandi and overturned near Patdighat at around 7.55 am. People present on the spot immediately informed the police. The passengers who suffered minor injuries walked on their own to reach the road.
People reached for rescue after getting information from social media
After getting information from social media, a large number of people from the surrounding area also reached the spot for relief and rescue work and helped in removing the injured from the bus. But heavy rain hindered the relief and rescue work.
After this incident, MLA from Balh Assembly Indra Gandhi also reached Nerchowk Medical College to know the condition of the injured.
Bus fell into 200 feet deep ditch
This area comes under Thana Hatli. It is being told that Thakur Coach bus has fallen into a deep ditch about 200 feet below the road. Local people along with the police are taking the injured to the road. From here the injured are being taken to the hospital through ambulance. The reason for the accident is not yet known.
As soon as the bus overturned, people started shouting and screaming.
