Prof. Mahavir Singh appointed new VC of HPU

Himachal Pradesh University has finally got a permanent Vice Chancellor after a long gap of about three years. Prof. Mahavir Singh has become the new VC of HPU. Its notification has been issued by the government on Monday. Prof. Mahavir has studied from this university. 55-year-old Professor Mahavir Singh, the 28th Vice Chancellor of HPU, has been decorated in the 2024 Stanford University Ranking as one of the top two percent scientists globally, especially in the field of applied physics. This achievement underlines his significant contribution to magnetic nanotechnology and is an honor for Himachal Pradesh University Shimla. Mahavir Singh belongs to Kumarsain area of ​​​​Shimla district.

Professor Mahavir Singh, with more than 13 years of dedicated research, has discovered innovative applications of magnetic nanotechnology in the green energy sector, especially for electric vehicles and in communications. Focusing on gigahertz frequency range antenna miniaturization, his work has also been focused in the activity of biological cells and enzymes, promoting safer and more effective medical applications. The eco-friendly, adaptability and biodegradable properties of magnetic nanotechnology establish it as a sustainable option for energy, communication and healthcare solutions.

He has successfully mentored 25 PhD students, many of whom are now making significant contributions at top institutions globally. Several research scholars under his supervision have presented their papers at prestigious international conferences in the US, Brazil, UK, Italy, Japan, France and Spain. The high quality research carried out by Professor Mahavir Singh at Himachal Pradesh University in partnership with leading Indian institutions such as IUAC New Delhi, BARC Mumbai and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research has played a key role in achieving this honour. Professor Mahavir Singh’s extensive publication record in high impact international journals, as well as substantial citation index, firmly establishes his research transmittal status among the distinguished scientists recognized by Stanford University.
