Unique Demonstration: HRTC Drivers, conductors to work for 8 hours from August 1

Union head Mansingh Thakur said that the HRTC management should hold talks with Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri within a week so that the demands can be met.

Employees associated with the driver union held a gate meeting and demonstrated outside the HRTC headquarters located at the old bus stand. Union head Mansingh Thakur said that the HRTC management should hold talks with Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri within a week so that the demands can be met.

He said that if this does not happen, then from August 1, they will neither block the roads nor park the buses, but will start doing eight hours of duty daily. The government and the corporation management will be responsible for the troubles that people will face due to this.

Mansingh Thakur, and senior vice head of the union Ranjit Thakur, local depot head Latesh Kumar Lej Ram, Dharamveer, Padam Singh said that during night duty, HRTC gives Rs 130 as allowance, but more than 200 is being spent daily for staying, food and other necessary expenses at the destination. We are spending on night duty ourselves. We are not getting anything in the name of allowance.

The installments of arrears pending for four years are not being received. Medical reimbursement is not being received. Mansingh Thakur said that the Managing Director of the Corporation has accepted many demands of the employees and assured a solution, but has talked about meeting Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri to discuss financial matters.

A proposal of the demands of the union can be brought in the meeting of the BOD of Himachal Path Parivahan Nigam Drivers. The BOD of HRTC will be held on 29th July. However, the corporation management has assured the officials of the driver organization to fulfill the demands in the meeting. Now the eyes of the employees are fixed on the VOD. HRTC employees are demanding the release of night overtime and other allowances.

The overtime payment of about Rs 100 crore for the last five years is pending for the employees. The medical allowance of crores of rupees to be given to the employees is also stuck for a long time. The corporation management has assured the union to pay salary and pension by a certain date, but there is no time limit for paying salary to the employees and pensioners.

In such a situation, the employees of HRTC are upset with the government and the corporation management. Gate meetings are being held outside the office regarding their demands. Now they have decided to provide services for eight hours.
