Shimla: The weather is about to change in Himachal Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain and snowfall in the high altitude areas for the next 4 days. According to IMD, Western Disturbance (WD) is becoming active in the state. Its effect will be seen in the high altitude areas of 5 districts of the state.
According to the Meteorological Department, due to the western disturbance becoming active in the state, there will be light rain and snowfall on the higher peaks of Lahaul Spiti, Kullu, Kinnaur, Kangra and Mandi districts. Its effect will be especially visible on February 10. On this day, the western disturbance will be more strongly active.
Due to this, rain and snowfall may occur at some places of medium altitude. The weather will remain clear in other districts of the state. Temperature will also drop due to rain and snowfall in higher areas. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has also issued a cold wave alert for the plain areas of the state including the plain districts of Una and Bilaspur.
The plains have become colder than the capital Shimla
On the other hand, the plains of the state have become colder than Shimla. The minimum temperature of Shimla was recorded at 7.4 degrees Celsius. Whereas the minimum temperature of the state’s hottest city Una has dropped to 2.1 degrees.
The minimum temperature of Bhuntar was 2.0 degrees, Dharamshala 4.8 degrees, Palampur 3.5 degrees, Solan 2.6 degrees, Manali 1.1 degrees and Bilaspur 3.9 degrees. The average minimum temperature of the state was recorded 0.3 degrees below normal.
Temperatures in Tabo reached minus 10.3
The minimum temperature in Lahaul Spiti district has dropped to minus -8.6 degrees in Kukumsari, minus 10.3 degrees in Tabo, minus 9.1 degrees in Keylong and minus 1 degree in Kalpa.
There was 73% less rainfall than normal in the winter season
Himachal Pradesh has received 73 percent less rainfall than normal during the winter season, i.e. from January 1 to February 7. The normal rainfall during this period is 104.7 mm. But this time, only 29.5 mm of rain has fallen.
