Himachal: 3 independent MLAs Resignation accepts

Shock to BJP before Lok Sabha election results, still behind Congress even after winning 6 seats in by-elections.

Himachal Pradesh: Resignations of 3 independent MLAs accepted in Himachal: Shock to BJP before Lok Sabha election results, still behind Congress even after winning 6 seats in the by-election

A day before the results of the Lok Sabha elections, on Monday, Himachal Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania accepted the resignations of 3 independent MLAs. These include Nalagarh MLA KL Thakur, Dehra MLA Hoshiyaar Singh and Hamirpur MLA Ashish Sharma.

These three had voted for BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan in the election for a Rajya Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh. After this, all three appeared before the Assembly Speaker and Secretary Yashpal on March 22 and submitted their resignations. All three have joined BJP.

If we talk about the party position in Himachal Assembly, there are a total of 68 seats in the state and 35 MLAs are required for majority. After the resignation of 6 Congress and now 3 independent MLAs, the total number of MLAs has come down to 59 and the majority figure has become 30. Congress currently has 34 MLAs and BJP has 25 MLAs in the state.

By-elections were held on June 1 along with the Lok Sabha elections on the seats vacated after the resignation of 6 Congress MLAs. Their results will come on June 4. After the results of these 6 seats, the total number of MLAs will be 65. Then the majority figure will be 33. The number of current Congress MLAs is still one more than this.

BJP has suffered a major setback due to this decision of the Speaker. The party leaders have been claiming that the party will form the government in the state after the results of the by-elections held on 6 assembly seats on June 4. Even if BJP wins all the 6 seats in the by-election, the number of its MLAs will reach only 31.

Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania said – All three MLAs are no longer members of the Assembly from today. Its notification will be done soon. Now by-elections will be held on Dehra, Nalagarh and Hamirpur assembly. There has been a delay in accepting the resignation to know the election and the opinion of all the MLAs.

In the Rajya Sabha elections, 6 Congress MLAs also voted in favor of BJP. The Assembly Speaker had canceled the membership of all 6 MLAs.

After this, Rajendra Rana, three-time MLA from Sujanpur, Ravi Thakur, two-time MLA from Lahaul Spiti, Indradutt Lakhanpal, three-time MLA from Barsar, Devendra Kumar Bhutto from Kutlehar and Chaitanya Sharma from Gagret also joined BJP in Delhi. After the announcement of by-elections, BJP declared 6 rebels of Congress as its candidates.
