Along with this, the police is also helping the elderly with the amount of fraud by taking out details from the bank.

Cyber criminals are making retired employees and officers victims of fraud by adopting new tricks. In the latest case, a case of fraud of Rs 28 lakh has come to light from an elderly man who retired from the post of an officer from a government department in Shimla. The elderly complained to the cyber crime helpline number 1930, after which the cyber crime cell contacted the local police station and sent the investigating officer to the officer’s house and recorded his statement. Along with this, the police is also helping the elderly with the amount of fraud by taking out details from the bank.

According to the complaint received by the Cyber Crime Cell, the elderly was contacted by cyber thugs in the year 2020. 28 lakh rupees were invested in a policy, but now the elderly is neither getting his money nor is able to contact the people who made the investment. Due to being cheated of lakhs, he could not tell anything about this to his family, due to which his children and wife also left him due to misunderstanding. Tired of this, the elderly man contacted the cyber helpline number 1930 last week and informed about the fraud that happened with him.

The elderly man told that he is alone at home and is also mentally disturbed due to being cheated of lakhs. In view of this, the cyber crime cell immediately informed the concerned police station about the matter. An ASI rank investigating officer was sent to the spot to investigate the matter. On receiving the complaint of the elderly, the police has started investigating the matter.

It is worth mentioning that cyber criminals make people victims of fraud in various ways. This includes gifts, investment in the name of policy, digital arrest, getting many times profit in the share market and other tricks. In view of this, the cyber crime cell has appealed to the people not to fall into such traps. Invest only after investigation.

According to cyber experts, criminals especially target retired employees and officers. The main reason for this is that such people have a good amount of savings after retirement. Recently, an elderly person in the district was cheated of Rs 85 lakh in the name of making a video viral. Apart from this, cyber criminals have made many elderly people their victims in Mandi district as well. Cyber thugs had carried out a fraud of Rs 1 crore by keeping an elderly couple living in Shimla under digital arrest.
