A case has been registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Mandi based on the complaint from the retired government employee, who resides in the Padhar area. According to the complainant, he came into contact with a foreign woman on social media, who sent him a gift. The fraudsters took about 20 lakh rupees from him under various tax claims to clear customs for the gift. Later, a person, pretending to be an embassy employee, deceived him into believing he would return 20 lakh rupees, ultimately defrauding him of another 80 lakh rupees.

Meanwhile, DG CID S.R. Ojha stated that the police are investigating the matter. He urged everyone to remain vigilant against cyber fraud and to contact 1930 or their nearest police station if they fall victim to such scams.
