Rs 52 crore sanctioned for road connecting Kufri and Chail

The state government will have to spend more than this amount from its own funds.

The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has sanctioned Rs 52 crore for the road connecting Himachal Pradesh’s famous tourist destination Kufri and Chail. This will widen the 25 km long road. The Central Ministry has written a letter to the Chief Secretary of the state regarding this.

The Centre has sanctioned this budget under the CRIF scheme. The Centre has asked to complete the work of widening this road within the sanctioned budget. As per the rules, only 10 percent of the expansion will be possible. The state government will have to spend more than this amount from its own funds.

Along with giving administrative approval, the Centre has asked the Public Works Department to give financial approval within four months so that the work of widening the road can be started.

Let us tell you that tourists from all over the country reach Kufri. Most of the tourists who come to Kufri go to visit Chail. But due to the narrow road, tourists as well as local people had to face problems.

Many times, long traffic jams also used to occur due to vehicles coming from both sides. In view of this, the state government had prepared a detailed project report (DPR) and sent it to the Center for funding. The Center has approved a budget of Rs 52 crore under CRIF.
