Controversy erupted after the prestigious Auckland House School in Shimla asked the pre-primary class students to come to school wearing white kurta-pyjama and small cap on March 28 for the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations. A WhatsApp message was sent to the parents for this by the school management. The decision drew mixed reactions from all over. Matter escalated when Hindu outfits expressed anger over decision.
As per the circular of the school, all pre-primary children from nursery to second class were asked to bring dry fruits and vermicelli with them. Notice directed parents to send children wearing any ‘Kurta pyjama and small cap’. Now this message of Auckland School is becoming increasingly viral on social media. Hindu organizations also got angry about the said dress code. The school management, following the uproar, has now withdrawn the decision to celebrate Eid in school.
Devbhoomi Kshatriya Organization has warned about this matter. The organization’s president, Rumit Singh Thakur released a video and said that this kind of behavior of the school management will not be tolerated. He said that love jihad is already being done with Hindu girls by people of a particular community.
He said that if the program is held in the school, the school will be closed, and a protest will be held.
Decision withdrawn after protest
Auckland House School clarified that just like Holi, Diwali and Christmas were celebrated in schools, a decision was taken to celebrate Eid in the same way. The safety of children and staff is a priority. After people’s objection, this festival will not be celebrated in the school.
