Aani: A serviceman going for langar seva during the famous Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, died after falling from a hill. The deceased has been identified as Siddharth Sharma (31), a resident of Rampur in Shimla. Siddharth Sharma has left behind his 5-year-old daughter, pregnant wife, parents, and sister. The family is inconsolable at home.
According to the family, Siddharth Sharma had left home to serve langar to the devotees during the Shrikhand Yatra. While carrying the luggage and climbing the hill on Thursday afternoon, his feet slipped near Barahati Nala, and he fell into a 50-meter-deep ditch, due to which he was seriously injured.
After this, Siddharth was taken to Singhagad Base Camp. From here, he was brought to Nirmand Hospital in an injured state at around 2.30 a.m. on Thursday. Due to his deteriorating condition, the doctors sent him to Khaneri Hospital. When there was no improvement in his health here, he was referred to Shimla IGMC. He died during treatment here.
According to the family, Siddharth Sharma used to run a shop in Rampur Market. He is also a member of a committee in Rampur. This committee provides langar service every year during the Shrikhand Yatra. Siddharth and other members of the committee were carrying goods for the langar on Thursday. During this time, this accident happened with Siddharth.
The Shrikhand Yatra started on July 14 and will continue till July 27. Mahadev Roop Pindi in Shrikhand is at an altitude of 18,570 feet above sea level. Because of this, the Yatra is considered one of the most dangerous religious trekking journeys in the world. To reach Shrikhand, devotees have to walk on a narrow and dangerous path of 32 kilometres.
