“Shahi Jalebh” held at Mandi International Shivratri Festival with 155 deities, thousands of devotees

Shahi Jalebh (Shobha Yatra) has started in the International Shivratri Festival of Mandi, the Chhoti Kashi of Himachal Pradesh. Earlier, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu started the Shobha Yatra by offering prayers at Ram Madho Rai temple. This time rain has caused disruption in Mandi Shivratri. Still, more than 155 deities and thousands of people participated in Shahi Jalebh.

Mandi: Shahi Jalebh (Shobha Yatra) has started in the International Shivratri Festival of Mandi, the Chhoti Kashi of Himachal Pradesh. Earlier, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu started the Shobha Yatra by offering prayers at Ram Madho Rai temple. This time rain has caused disruption in Mandi Shivratri. Still, more than 155 deities and thousands of people participated in Shahi Jalebh.

Chief Minister Sukhu himself participated in the Shahi Jalebh riding in an open jeep. Due to rain, this time only 155 deities could reach Mandi by morning, although the Mandi administration has invited 216 deities to participate in this fair.

Most of the people in Shahi Jalebh are without umbrellas, while some people are moving forward with umbrellas. During this time, tremendous enthusiasm was seen among the people.

During this, Chief Minister Sukhu announced an increase of 5 percent in the offerings to the gods and goddesses.

For International Shivratri, Mandi city has been decorated attractively with colorful lights and flowers. Not only Mandi city but tourists from other areas of Himachal and North India have also come to Mandi.

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu will inaugurate the first cultural evening at the Mandi Festival today. In today’s Star Night, Indian Idol fame Neha Dixit and Lakhwinder Wadali will perform.

In the second cultural evening i.e. on 28th February, Nagi King Kuldeep Sharma will be the centre of attraction.

International Cultural Parade held for the first time- DC

DC Mandi Apoorv Devgan said that for the first time an international cultural parade is being organized in the International Shivratri Festival. The cultural parade will be held on March 28 at 6 pm.

It will be taken out from DC office via Seri Manch and Indira Market and back to DC office. A total of 20 cultural groups from Malaysia, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka and Ukraine along with Northern India and Himachal will take part in this one and a half hour long parade.

Mahashivratri festival is being celebrated since the 15th century

Shivaratri festival is being celebrated in Chhoti Kashi Mandi since 1527 AD. It is believed that in 1527 Raja Ajbar Sen established Baba Bhootnath temple. Mandi city was established along with it. This festival is being celebrated since then.
