Rampur: Rampur police in Shimla has taken action in the interstate drug smuggling case. Police have arrested 9 more members of Sonu gang in Karsog of Mandi district. All of them were involved in smuggling of heroin along with the main gang leader accused Sohan Lal alias Sonu and Geeta Shrestha.
A total of 30 people are involved in the gang
DSP Naresh Sharma said that on March 3, 2025, Sohan Lal and Geeta Shrestha were caught with 26.68 grams of chitta. Property worth Rs 9.22 lakh was also seized from them. Investigation revealed that a total of 30 people were involved in this gang.
Identification of the arrested accused
The arrested accused include Hukam Chand alias Rinku Verma, Mahendra Kumar, Vimal Thakur, Tankeshwar Dutt alias Negu Verma, Ashish Kumar, Hanish Kumar, Saurabh, Vijay Kumar alias Vishi Sharma and Lalit Kayth. All the accused are residents of Karsog and Rampur areas.
21 accused arrested earlier
The police have already arrested 21 people. Police officials believe that this action will curb the drug trade in the area. According to DSP Sharma, the search for other accused in the case is on.
