The Himachal High Court will hear the Sanjauli Masjid case today. Local residents living around Sanjauli Masjid have filed a contempt petition against the Municipal Corporation (MC) Shimla.
Let us tell you that on October 21 last year, the High Court had ordered the MC Commissioner Shimla to settle the case going on in the corporation court by December 20, 2024, because the Corporation Commissioner Court has not given a decision regarding the lower two floors of Sanjauli Masjid.
At the same time, the local resident had filed a petition in the Himachal High Court last year and requested to settle the Sanjauli Masjid case soon. On this, the High Court had given the Municipal Corporation till December 20. As per the court order, the local resident has filed a contempt petition for not settling the case. It is to be heard in the High Court today.
This case will be heard in the court of Judge Sandeep Sharma. In the hearing last Friday, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner had sought 8 weeks from the High Court to settle the case. The court has given six weeks to the Municipal Corporation Commissioner.
On October 5, the Municipal Commissioner Court had given orders to demolish three floors
On October 5 last year, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner Court had given orders to demolish the upper three floors of Sanjauli Mosque within two months. The work of demolishing the mosque is going on as per the orders of the Municipal Commissioner Court. But this work is being done at a slow pace.
