Shimla: Kingpin of inter-state drug smuggling gang arrested from Uttar Pradesh

Accused Ashok Khajuria alias Sharma alias Billa is a resident of Jammu and Kashmir.

Shimla: Shimla Police has arrested the kingpin of the inter-state drug smuggling ‘Sharma gang’ from Uttar Pradesh. Police caught the accused in a hotel in Ghaziabad and brought him to Shimla last evening. Accused Ashok Khajuria alias Sharma alias Billa is a resident of Jammu and Kashmir.

He used to smuggle drugs from Punjab, Jammu, and Kashmir to different places in Himachal Pradesh. The police were looking for him for a long time. Shimla Police laid a trap to catch the accused. Shimla Police’s Special Investigation Unit (SIT) was sent to Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh to catch the accused. On Monday, the police succeeded in catching him.

Police interrogation has revealed that the accused used to bet on IPL Dream 11 through a person from the Hisar district of Haryana with the money earned from drugs.

STF Mohali has also registered a case against the accused under the NDPS Act. Then, 5 kgof  chitta/heroin was recovered from the accused and he has been in jail for about seven years in this case.

Actually, Shimla police arrested Moti Sharma, a smuggler of the Sharma gang, on 10 April with 23.720 grams of chitta. After this, when the police investigated, it was found that Moti Sharma is associated with a gang. After this, when the police started investigating, the layers of the gang started getting exposed, and on 19 April, the police got a big lead in this case.

The police arrested the nephew of the kingpin Ashok from Jammu and Kashmir, who was involved in this illegal business. Another of his associates, Sanjay Kumar, was arrested in Hamirpur with 130 grams of chitta.
