Shimla: State level Pahari Day program starts at Gaiety Theater

Manjit Sharma, joint director of language, arts and culture department, said that the three-day Pahari Diwas has started with Choltu Dev dance from Amphitheater. Artists from all over the state have been invited for the state level program of Pahari Diwas. Pahari Diwas is celebrated every year on November 1, in which various programs are organized to promote Pahari dialects, folk literature and folk culture. This time the ceremony is being held for 3 days.

There will be a writer’s conference on November 31 at 11:30 am in the conference room of the Gaiety Theatre. The program will be presided over by Padmashri Vidyanand Saraik. Dr. OP Sharma will present a research paper on the development of Himachal dialects of Pahari language. After that, the research paper will be discussed by more than two dozen Pahari-speaking invited scholars and reviewers from across the region. State level Pahari Kavi Sammelan will be held on November 1. About 40-50 Pahari speaking scholars from across the state will present their poems in Pahari dialect in the Kavi Sammelan.
