Shipkila Pass has been the Silk Route of India
Before independence, trade used to take place between India and China through Shipkila Pass. It was also called the Silk Route of India. It was closed after Covid in the year 2020. Till then only trade was allowed through this route.
Earlier, Shipkila Pass was closed in 1962 when China attacked India. Trade resumed again in 1993, but then only traders were allowed to go here.
