Shyam Bhagat Negi can become the new DGP of Himachal

Currently, he is posted as Special Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat.

Himachal cadre’s 1990 batch IPS Shyam Bhagat Negi can become the next Director General of Police (DGP) of Himachal Pradesh. The Appointment Committee of Cabinet of the Central Personnel Department has approved the return of Shyam Bhagat Negi to his original cadre late on Tuesday evening. Currently, he is posted as Special Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat.

There were discussions about Shyam Bhagat Negi becoming Himachal DGP for a long time. But he was on central deputation. Shyam Bhagat Negi, who belongs to Kinnaur district of Himachal, is now going to return to the state. It is believed that the state government can make him the next Director General of Police.

1993 batch IPS Ashok Tiwari is currently the acting DGP in the state. After the retirement of former DGP Dr. Atul Verma, the government has given additional charge to Ashok Tiwari. Four days before Dr. Verma’s retirement, the government forcibly sent him on long leave in the Chief Engineer Vimal Negi case. Even then Ashok Tiwari was given additional charge of DGP.

The state government has prepared a panel of 3 IPS officers for the new DGP in the month of May. Apart from Shyam Bhagat Negi, it includes Ashok Tiwari from Uttar Pradesh and Rakesh Aggarwal from Haryana.
