Shimla, June 24: The water level in the Sutlej river in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh has suddenly increased. This has created flood-like conditions. This situation has arisen not due to heavy rains but due to rapid melting of glaciers after summer. After the flood in Sutlej, the barrage of the 450 MW under-construction Shongtong Karcham Hydroelectric Project has been damaged.
Meanwhile, the monsoon has reached the entire state today. The Meteorological Center Shimla has officially announced this. The monsoon entered Shimla, Sirmour, Kinnaur and some parts of Kangra district on June 20. Four days later, the monsoon has covered the entire state.
Heavy rain in Shimla after noon
At the same time, there was heavy rain for some time in Shimla at 2:15 in the afternoon. Due to this the weather of Shimla has become pleasant.
Four districts of the state, Hamirpur, Mandi, Sirmaur and Kangra received good rainfall last night. Naidun received the most rainfall of 63.5 mm. Kangra received 55.5 mm rainfall, Paonta Sahib 49.0 mm, Hamirpur 46.0 mm, Neri 39.0 mm, Mandi 34.2 mm and Sujanpur 20.8 mm rainfall. The weather remained clear in other parts.
Rain forecast in these areas today
Today (Tuesday) also light rain is expected in some areas of the state. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is forecast to remain clear in Bilaspur, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti districts today. Light rain may occur in Una, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra and Sirmaur districts.
Orange alert in 5 districts tomorrow
Two days ago, an orange alert for heavy rain was issued in 8 districts for June 25. But in the latest bulletin, orange alert has been issued in only 5 districts on June 25. This warning has been given to Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Kangra and Sirmaur districts. Yellow alert has been issued for Bilaspur, Mandi, Shimla and Solan districts.
