Water released from Kol dam, alert in Punjab: Sutlej water level increased by 5 meters

Shimla, July 25: Water was released from the Kol dam built on the Sutlej river in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, at 10 am today. Due to this, the water level of the Sutlej has increased by four to five meters. In view of this, an advisory has been issued to people from Bilaspur to Punjab not.

In view of this, an advisory has been issued to people from Bilaspur to Punjab not to go to the banks of the Sutlej River.

After leaving the Kol-Dam, the water of the Sutlej enters Ropar (Rupnagar) in Punjab. Beyond Ropar, the Sutlej River flows westward in Punjab, passing through Ludhiana district.

After this, it meets the Beas River near Harike-Pattan and then turns in a southwest direction and flows along the India-Pakistan border. Finally, this river enters Pakistan and joins the Chenab River near Bahawalpur.

Rain alert again in Himachal from tomorrow

Most parts of Himachal Pradesh are definitely sunny today, and the weather is forecast to remain clear. But the Western Disturbance is getting active again from tomorrow. In view of this, a yellow alert for rain has been issued for Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur districts for 26th July.

On July 27, a yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued in all the other 10 districts except Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti. On July 28, there is a possibility of rain in 6 districts of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi.

12% more rain in the monsoon season

So far this monsoon season, there has been 12 per cent more rain than normal. Between 20 June and 24 July, the normal rainfall is 293.9 mm, but this time 328.2 mm of rain has fallen. Shimla has received 77 percent more rain than normal and Mandi has received 76 percent more rain.

Hamirpur received 46%, Bilaspur 34%, Kangra 3%, Kullu 37%, Sirmaur 34%, Solan 24% and Una received 28% more rain than normal. Lahaul Spiti received 67% less rain than normal, Kinnaur received 13% and Chamba received 32% less rain than normal.

147 people died in the monsoon season

Heavy monsoon rains in the state have caused damage to private and government property worth Rs 1387 crore. 147 people have died during the monsoon. Out of these, 27 have lost their lives due to landslides, cloudbursts and floods, while 68 people have died in road accidents.
