Himachal Pradesh: The fire that broke out in the forests of Taunidevi since Sunday morning took a huge form in the afternoon and engulfed the rest house of the Forest Department. By the time the fire brigade vehicles reached the spot, the rest house was burnt to ashes. The forest department has suffered a loss of lakhs of rupees due to the fire.
According to local Panchayat head Ravindra Thakur, he had informed the fire brigade in the morning about the fire that broke out in the forests of Tauni Devi, but the fire brigade said that the fire season was going on. In such a situation, he does not have any vehicle at present. All the vehicles of the fire brigade are engaged in extinguishing the fire. The forest fire soon engulfed the rest house of the Forest Department.
Due to this, all three sets of rest houses were gutted by fire. Not only this, the Maruti 800 car parked outside the Forest Rest House also caught fire, which was seized by the department under the Forest Act. In such a situation, the forest department has lost lakhs of rupees. Apart from this, forest wealth worth lakhs of rupees has also been burnt to ashes. By the time the fire brigade vehicles reached the spot, the forest house was burnt to ashes. Ravindra Thakur has appealed to the state government and the district administration that a fire post should be opened in Taunidevi also and a vehicle should be parked here in Taunidevi also, so that if any incident of arson occurs, the fire can be controlled on time.
