Shimla: The Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra will be held under the supervision of the Shrikhand Trust from July 14th to July 27th. Shrikhand Trust has started preparations. SDM Manmohan Singh said that online registration has started. The registration fee for the yatra is Rs. 250. Offline registration facilities will also be available at the base camp.
This time glaciers have formed due to heavy snowfall. Due to this, journey is more risky. Rescue, medical, and administration teams will be present at the base camp during the administratively started Yatra. Despite this, people are going on the yatra without registration or permission. During the Shrikhand Yatra, a person died after slipping and falling into a deep ditch. 50-year-old Vinay Verma, son of the late Shyam Sundar Verma, was a resident of village Gulathi, district Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh.
DSP Ani Chandrashekhar Kayath said that on Thursday night, Vinay’s brother informed the police over the phone that he had gone for the Shrikhand Yatra.
While returning, Vinay slipped on the glacier near Shrikhand and fell into a deep gorge about 250 meters below. He died on the spot. The body is being taken to Jaon with the help of local people. It may take about two days. Officially, the Shrikhand Yatra has not started yet. This year, three people, including a local, have died during the Shrikhand Yatra. SDM Nirmand Manmohan Singh said that a police team is being deployed at the base camp in Singhagad from Saturday so that no devotee can go on the yatra.
