Shimla: The state government undertaking the Himachal Pradesh Path Parivahan Nigam (HRTC) has recovered Rs 67 lakh from its employees. Rs 748 has been deducted from the salaries of all the drivers, conductors, and mechanical staff of the corporation. Employees are protesting against this.
HRTC gives two uniforms to its employees every year. Instead of this, they are given an allowance of Rs 2000. But before purchasing the uniforms this year, HRTC employees argued that the cloth has become expensive, so the uniform allowance should be increased.
The employees had also raised questions about the quality of the uniforms purchased last year. Therefore, before purchasing the uniforms this year, a meeting was held with the dress purchase committee of the union officials. The proceedings of this meeting were duly prepared and signed by the employee leaders.
After the decision taken in the meeting, this time HRTC bought dresses worth Rs 2748 instead of Rs 2000 and gave them to its employees. This time, when the salary for June came, all the employees were short by Rs 748. After this, all the employees got upset. When the HRTC management was asked about this, it was found that the money for the uniform had been deducted.
There are more than 8,500 employees in the corporation.
This has angered the employees. But they are unable to speak openly because their employee leaders had talked about buying quality dresses in the meeting. The board management gave them quality dresses, but their uniform allowance was not increased. This dress is given to the field staff at HRTC. Their number is more than 8500. A recovery has been made by all the employees.
