Shimla: Three companies have been selected to lease government land in Himachal Pradesh and set up electric vehicle charging stations there. The financial bids made by the companies were opened on Wednesday, in which three companies have been selected. The Transport Department will soon give work orders in this. Rope-way Transport Corporation had made these tenders for the Transport Department. E-charging stations are to be set up on 45 government sites in the state.
Land will be given to the companies on lease. A total of eight companies had applied for this. The financial bids of the tender opened on Wednesday, in which three companies have been selected. After the selection of the companies, the work of setting up will be allotted soon.
The land of these sites is in the name of the Transport Department, which will be given to the company in future and EV charging stations will be set up there.
All the stations will be set up on PPP mode, in which the government will also be a stakeholder. The fleet of electric vehicles in the state is continuously increasing. The government is engaged in setting up infrastructure to provide charging facilities to e-vehicles. The government has built six green corridors in the state. Electric vehicle charging stations are to be installed in all these.
So far, charging stations have been installed at 23 petrol pumps. This year the target is to have a total of 75 stations. Apart from this, charging stations will be installed in hotels along with the offices of all government departments, boards and corporations. The department is constantly making efforts for this and work is being done at a fast pace to achieve the target set this year.
