Shimla: Three newly elected MLAs from Himachal will take the oath in the assembly on July 22. Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania will administer the oath of office and secrecy to them. The Assembly Secretariat Administration has issued a notification in this regard.
Kamlesh Thakur, wife of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu from the Dehra assembly seat of Kangra district, Bawa Hardeep Singh from Nalagarh, and newly elected BJP MLA Ashish Sharma from Hamirpur will become members of the Himachal Assembly on Monday.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur will also be present during their swearing-in. Kamlesh Thakur won the election by a margin of 9399 votes, while Hardeep Bawa won by 8990 and Ashish Sharma by 1571 votes. Now, after the swearing-in in the Himachal Assembly with 68 MLAs, the number of Congress MLAs will increase to 40, and the BJP will have 28 MLAs.
On these three seats, former independent MLAs resigned on March 22 after the Rajya Sabha elections, and on March 23, KL Thakur, Ashish Sharma, and Hoshiar Singh joined the BJP. Due to this, by-elections were held on these three seats.
For the last five months, the BJP has been claiming to form the government in the state. But now the ruling Congress in the Himachal Assembly has five MLAs more than many and 12 MLAs more than the BJP.
On the second day of training for newly elected MLAs, i.e., July 23, a training program will be organized from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In this, 26 MLAs elected for the first time will be given training. The purpose of the training program is to make all the newly elected MLAs aware of the functioning and activities of the Legislative Assembly. Kuldeep Pathania said that during the training, all these members present will be made aware of important topics like the role and privileges of the legislature in the House, question hour, discussion in the House, legislative work, and the role of the committees of the House. Apart from this, information will also be given about the financial facilities available to the honorable members and the e-Vidhan system.
