Devendra Sharma takes over as Commanding-in-Chief in Himachal Pradesh

During his service, General Devendra Sharma has also been an instructor at the NDA.

Shimla: Today in Shimla Himachal Pradesh Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma took oath as the 25th General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army Training Command. Devendra Sharma is an alumnus of Mayo College, Ajmer, the National Defence Academy, and the Indian Military Academy. The General Officer is a recipient of the prestigious ‘Sword of Honor’ and was commissioned into ‘The Sindh Horse’ on December 19, 1987.

In a career spanning nearly four decades, the general has held important command appointments in various sensitive operational areas, counter-terrorism environments, and high-altitude terrain. He commanded ‘The Sindh Horse’, an armoured brigade as part of the Strike Corps, and also commanded an infantry division and a corps on the Western Front. Before taking over as GOC-in-C ARTRAC, the General was the Chief of Staff of Headquarters Western Command.

During his service, General Devendra Sharma has also been an instructor at the NDA. Imrat has served as Staff Officer Operations in Bhutan and as Chief Military Personnel Officer of the United Nations Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The General has undergone various prestigious courses, such as the Defense Services Staff College, the Higher Defense Management Course, and the Advanced Professional Programme in Public Administration.

For his exemplary leadership and devotion to duty towards the nation, the general was awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2022. He served with the Infantry in Operation Rakshak in counter-insurgency operations, where he was awarded the Sena Medal for Gallantry and was also awarded the Central Army Commander’s Commendation Card and the United Nations Force Commander’s Commendation Card.
