UNA: In the district, the network of roads and bridges is set to strengthen. The state government has initially approved a technical amount of ₹35.03 crores for the construction of three roads and two bridges. These projects, approved through NABARD, will directly benefit the residents of the district. The Public Works Department (PWD) of Una is set to expedite these development works, with the target of completing the tender process by the end of this month. If everything goes smoothly, substantial development work funded by this significant amount is expected to commence next month.
The benefits of these development works will be felt in the PWD’s Dhaulatpur Chowk, Bharwain, Haroli, and Bangana divisions. In this series, a bridge over the Sunhani Swarn River from Marwadi to Joh via Dhaulatpur Chowk will be constructed at a cost of ₹11.13 crores.
Additionally, in Bharwain, the proposed construction includes a bridge and the road from Martyr Amol Kalia Basti Chintpurni to Kinnu via Raida Paida and Duhal Bangwala for ₹16.94 crores. Similarly, in Haroli, the road from Shri Gidgidha Sahib Pubowal to Tahli Sahib, Baba Barthari, and Kinnu Mohalla Panjuana to the main road will cost ₹3.97 crores, while in Bangana, the road from Khairiyan via Dihar, Makdi, and Chamboa will be upgraded at ₹5.98 crores. The total estimated amount for these projects is approximately ₹38 crores, with ₹35.03 crores allocated as the technical amount.
Tendering is being conducted this month, and construction is expected to begin next month. This initiative will significantly enhance the development structure in the district.
