Punjab Police has arrested two accused in the case of vandalism of Himachal Path Parivahan Nigam bus running on Chandigarh-Hamirpur route in Kharar of Mohali district on March 18. This information has been given by Himachal Pradesh Police Headquarters. The Punjab Police team has traced and detained both the accused, and the car has also been recovered from them. The arrested accused include Gagandeep Singh son of Jasbir Singh, resident of Muktsar Sahib, and Hardeep Singh son of Narendra Pal Singh, resident of Bhatta Sahib (Ropar).
According to the information given to the police by the HRTC management, the bus running on the Chandigarh- Hamirpur route left Chandigarh at 6:15 pm on Tuesday. During the journey, unknown persons attacked the bus with sticks near Kharar and broke the windscreen and several window panes. This unexpected attack created panic among the passengers, driver and conductor of the bus.
However, no one was injured in this incident and all the passengers and crew were safe. In this regard, senior officials of Police Headquarters Shimla held talks with the Special Director General of Police, Law and Order, Punjab, to resolve the matter.
As a result, an FIR was registered in the case of vandalism of a Himachal Road Transport Corporation’s Hamirpur unit bus in Kharar near Mohali in Punjab. The case is being investigated by SAS Nagar Police Mohali. The attackers tried to hide their identity by pasting paper on the number plate of their car, which made it difficult to identify them. Immediately after the incident, a passenger informed Kharar City Police Station, after which the police took action and removed the bus from the spot and started investigation. Now two accused have been arrested in this case.
Regarding this incident, the HRTC management has appealed to the passengers to immediately inform the administration about any suspicious activity, so that their security can be strengthened further. Senior officials of Punjab Police have assured to ensure full security of buses, people and vehicles going from Himachal to Punjab.
