Mandi: Varun Walia of Himachal Pradesh has created history by winning bronze medal in Swat French Boxing Championship.
This information was given by Santoshi Sharma, General Secretary of Swat Sangh Himachal Pradesh. She told that, Varun Walia from Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, who was part of the Indian team, has won bronze medal in the 5th Asian Swat (French Boxing) Championship held in Indonesia from 24 to 29 June.
There is an atmosphere of happiness in village Malwana of Balh sub division due to Varun winning bronze medal. Varun Walia lost to Iranian boxer in the semi-final round in Junior Boys category-42 kg.
Players from 16 countries including India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Iran, Japan, China, Uzbekistan, Indonesia of Asian countries participated in this competition. President and all members of State Swat Sangh Himachal Pradesh have congratulated Varun Walia.
