The CBI DIG who reached Shimla from Delhi has taken over the investigation of the case of the death of Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Chief Engineer Vimal Negi. The DIG reached Shimla on Sunday to personally investigate and monitor the case. Before this, CBI SP Jaipal had arrived on Saturday. On Sunday, two CBI officers reached the SP’s office and saw the entire record of the investigation. Some documents were also taken, but CBI officials said that signatures of all the SIT members are necessary on every page of the investigation done by the police. Only after this the remaining records will be taken. For this, the police has asked for a day or two from the CBI.
Till now, a four-member tea,m including the DSP was collecting records related to the case, but now six CBI officers and employees have started the investigation. The CBI team has set up a base camp in the Grand Hotel. The CBI team will now leave the guest house of the police headquarters and stay in the Grand Hotel itself.
Right now, the CBI team is busy collecting documents. As the investigation progresses, people will be called for questioning. The family has accused Vimal Negi of pressuring them to do wrong things in the working of the power project.
In such a situation, a team of CBI will also collect records related to the projects from Power Corporation Shimla. During this, officers and employees are to be questioned. It is also being said that a team can be sent to Una to investigate the Pekhubela solar power project. Administrative investigation officer Additional Chief Secretary Omkar Sharma, former Director General of Police Atul Verma and Superintendent of Police Sanjay Gandhi can also be questioned.
According to sources, the Superintendent of Police office remained open on Sunday as well. In the evening, two CBI officers reached the SP office. Family members, police officers and Power Corporation officials are to be questioned to investigate the Vimal Negi death case. CBI can call them to the base camp.
